The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Van Diest Medical Center is an individualized program for those with a history of a recent heart attack or chest pain; bypass or heart valve surgery; or coronary angioplasty, with or without stents.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a program for those with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). If your doctor recommends pulmonary rehabilitation, you will receive care from our team of healthcare providers, who will design a plan that fits your needs based on the health of your lungs, your age, and other health factors. After your program ends, the team will assess your lung function again to see if your breathing has improved.

A multidisciplinary team approach is a unique aspect of cardiac/pulmonary rehab.  Participants are provided with an exercise regime prescribed by their physician and supervised by Registered Nurses.  Education is provided to participants related to healthy living, diet modification, stress management and disease management.

The length of the cardiac or pulmonary rehab programs varies, depending on the participant’s abilities and progression in the program.  Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation is covered by most insurance companies.
